WaterDance® is a form of hydrotherapy in which the receiver is guided underwater while wearing a nose plug. Developed in Switzerland by Arjana Brunschwiler and Aman Schroter in 1987, WaterDancing® incorporates elements of Aikido, waves and dolphin movements, rolls, inversions, massage and dance. WaterDance® is considered an advanced aquatic bodywork technique. It is a pre-requisite that practitoners have already learned to be with someone on the surface of the water with Watsu® or Jahara. Most practitioners agree that studying WaterDance® greatly improves their understanding and ability to work in the water. |
Jahara Technique is a method of learning body awareness and body mechanics in water, and applying these elements in a coherent treatment for clients. It is used worldwide in the aquatic rehab field, as well as in Spa settings and private practices. Jahara offers a wide range of techniques to choose from, suitable for virtually every body type. You will work safely, comfortably and creatively with anyone. If you have experience with other aquatic modalities, this program complements your training with its emphasis on body mechanics and effortlessnesss. If you are new to this field Jahara Technique is the perfect way to begin your journey into the warm water and experience its freedom with support. |

Fire and Water is a collaboration designed to enhance both Aquatic Therapy and Shiatsu. The course is taught half on land and half in the water. In order to understantd Water it is necessary to understand Fire. Fire is yang--direct action, while water is yin and flows freely. On land the students are introduced to concepts of Oriental Shiatsu. In water, meridians and points are introduced and used in ways that are not easily available on land. |
Shinzo
Fujimaki is an internationally renowned massage master who began shiatsu as
a child massaging family members. His natural gift for healing became
his course of study and career. As a black belt Aikido artist and
marathon runner, Shinzo integrates the discipline, training and philosophy
of aikido with the practice of shiatsu to create
a full, rich healing experience in the massage context.

The videos represented by these 2 covers do not directly reflect course material. Shiatsu Points for Watsu® was inspired by Cindy Anderson. She teaches Shiatsu in Texas and came to study Watsu® III with us. We made this video as a group project because we wanted to learn the location of points and palpate them while in the water. Immediately after the video, Cindy received a WaterDance® from Minakshi. Shiatsu points are emphasized throughout her session. |
